Images of Tasmania exhibition December 2012

Here are a few photos of some new work which I have at the Images of Tasmania exhibition at the Long Gallery. Its very new stuff so its sort of a sneak preview to some of my future works!

Statement:

Etching is a historic medium that dates back hundreds of years. Its history, embedded with rich ink and plate tone, has become the foundation for my practice. Evident in the atmospheric weaving of architecture, these images represent a cultural hybridity and the merging of past and present perspectives. Concerning bonds between identity and roots or ties to particular regions, my aim is to explore ideas behind migration and belonging. Layered with multiple screen prints and hand-colour, these works express nostalgia for my Polish homeland and a yearning for the past.
