the functionality of the object....

Over time, we remember things and we forget things. The spaces we see everyday also change, they erode and disintegrate with the weather and they also get fixed and altered. For this series of images I was trying to capture the true function of the object. I was attempting to look at the essence of objects and even how they change and differ over time, their function remains the same. Similarly to family, we know that things do change, people come and leave, but at the end of the day you know that a small part of them are still with you. With these digital collages, they are made up of tiny images of my family from past to present. They date back to the early twentieth century up until the present. This emphasises the idea of the function of the object being the same from when my ancestors were alive till now. Initially these images will be framed to enhance the idea of being hung up like an old photograph. They also have a photographic and nostalgic atmosphere to them which is exactly what I was trying to achieve.
